South East Asian Clubs In AFC Cup

Results this week in the AFC Cup have cemented teams from this region good start to the competition. Sriwijaya needed an injury time winner from Claudiano Do Santos to secure a win against TSW Pegasus in Hong Kong, a win that sees them of the group after two games and goes some way to easing the pain of a draw in their first game at home to a Maldives team.

Tampines Rovers will feel hard done by after being pegged back by Thai champions Muang Thong United. Aleksander Duric, usually described as evergreen, opened the scoring and had chances to finish the game but both sides remain unbeaten with four points from their opening two games. Muang Thong will be the happier of the two having started the season slowly.

Boaz Solossa has been in the ews for the wrong reasons recently but he let his football do the talking against East Bengal in a rain delayed tie for Persipura. He scored one but was truly magnificent, turning in the kind of performance a certain Thierry Henry would have been proud of as he tormented the Indians’ defence with pace and power/
