Home Tumble Out

If it's true that football is emotion then Home United and their supporters experienced the full circle earlier this evening as they took on Dempo in the AFC Cup quarter final second leg at Jalan Besar. 1-1 from the first leg the Protectors appeared to have the advantage of a crucial away goal with coach Sivaji promising all out attack.

But within 60 seconds the tie had been turned tit round arse as Mboyo, who isn't Mwelsh, gave the Indian side a shock lead. Peres D'Oliveria made it 1-1 on 13' but Roberto Mendes Silva restored the Indian lead on 24'.

On the half hour mark Valery Hiek saw red for the home side leaving them down on the night, down on the tie and down on the pitch but not for long.

Two goals in three minutes from Indra Sahdan put the home side in the lead, 3-2 on the night and through on goal difference but this football lark lasts for 90' not 38' and in first half injury time the wonderfully named Climax drew the Indians level. 3-3, Dempo were on their way.

A second goal for Silva 7' minutes from the end confirmed it would be the Indians who would be in the semi final draw.

A pulsating, rip roaring affair, had it been played out in front of the Kop we would be hearing about this game for years to come. On nights like this are reputations forged but with just 1,300 watching it will soon be forgotten about.

Perhaps India is finally coming of age on the football stage but Singapore, through the valiant efforts of Home United, with a population of the average rush hour commuter train into Mumbai's Victoria Terminus, run them pretty bloody close.

Comments:
I thought they would have done it at home, but then, i guess they could have done with getting drawn with a Malaysian side.

Just seeing a result from the SAFFC game, seems they rolled over tonight, but then, it's never easy going to play a Gulf Side. It's like any ASEAN representitive has a mental barrier when going to the Gulf.
